Week 1

My name is Juan and this will be my third semester at UCF! I am in my Junior year and am currently aiming to graduate Summer of 2027. I am a History major with a Pre-Law Minor and once I finish my bachelors at UCF I plan to take a working gap year to gain professional experience as well as study for the LSAT. With that said I have Law School in my sights with Georgetown in Washington D.C being my top pick, at least for now. My research interests fall between two of my passions: history and the law, but also reaching into the environment. I am currently drafting a paper for the UCF Undergraduate Law Review journal I helped establish, in which I delve into how harmful AI Data Centers are for the environment, why current environmental protection laws are not enough, and proposing solutions. This summer, what I hope to gain from this internship is the continued experience I have had with Representative Dr. Anna V Eskamani as she continues to campaign for Mayor for the City of Orlando. I have interned for her since August of 2025 and am glad to continue working for her. During the summer I expect to continue supporting the Representative in her Mayoral race for the city, as elections come up in November of 2027. Lastly I hope to continue networking and building connections as more events come up. However, this Summer internship I am doing is for the Legislative office where I will be doing more “office” and virtual work as compared to the Campaign internship I have been doing for a year now. The Campaign internship was more grassroots, boots on the ground type work, including canvassing. With this Legislative internship I look forward to learning new technical skills and looking at another side of the campaign as a whole.

As far as activity for this week goes, there has not been much because we are just now starting up with orientation coming on May the 23rd. I have been in contact with our director letting her know about all updates and keeping her posted on how the course is going. I believe she will be an amazing program lead as she seems very organized.
